A method, not a collection of separate subjects

Everything that happens at Mavir —how we teach, what we assess, how we support students— runs on a single pedagogical framework: the Finnish model, adapted to Latin American students and a 100% virtual environment.

Phenomenon-based learning

Learning connected to reality

Mavir's Finnish method is based on Phenomenon-Based Learning, the most advanced pedagogical approach in Finland's education system. Instead of organizing knowledge into isolated subjects to be memorized, students investigate real-world phenomena that cut across several disciplines at once. This way they build their own knowledge actively, deeply and meaningfully.

Understand before memorizing

The goal is not to pass an exam, but to understand, apply and retain what is learned. Depth is prioritized over quantity, meaning over repetition, and emotional well-being as an essential condition for learning. We take those principles and adapt them to the diversity of Latin America and to a classroom that lives on a screen. It is not a copy: it is our own version.

Active, contextualized learning

Students investigate, experiment and apply. The teacher guides without imposing answers.

Emotional well-being as a priority

Without well-being there is no sustainable learning. Emotional state matters as much as performance.

Autonomy and independent thinking

Students are encouraged to decide, explore and trust their own judgment. Curiosity replaces the fear of making mistakes.

Practical application

Every concept connects to real life and to concrete problems in the student's environment.

Personalized pace

Each student moves at their own pace. There is no single speed or single valid way to learn.

Play and experimentation

Play is not a reward: it is a central part of the method. Curiosity is the engine.

Minimal homework

The work is done in class. Time at home is for resting, playing and spending time together.

The 5 moments of learning

Each class follows a sequence that takes the student from initial curiosity to solving complex problems. A topic is not just ‘covered’: it is explored, and the student is the protagonist, not the recipient

Hook

A thought-provoking question sparks interest before any content. Example: why is the sky blue and not green?

Exploration

Guided inquiry: they discover concepts through observation and analysis. The teacher supports without giving direct answers.

Research

They form hypotheses, look for evidence and build their own explanations. They learn to think like scientists.

Application

Knowledge turns into concrete projects that solve real problems.

Challenge

An integrative challenge that combines everything learned. The highest level: critical thinking, creativity and complex problem solving.

While learning math and science, they develop this

Curricular content is the vehicle, not the destination. As they advance in each subject, students build the five essential 21st-century competencies in parallel.

Collaboration

Teamwork, active listening and collective building.

Communication

Clear expression of ideas in oral, written and visual form.

Creativity

Generating original ideas and non-obvious solutions.
Critical thinking

Critical thinking

The ability to question, analyze and decide with information.

Autonomy

Initiative, responsibility and confidence in one’s own judgment.

Outcome

Mavir School educational model: private virtual infrastructure with a Finnish active-learning methodology, phenomenon-based and focused on 21st-century skills.

Ten core subjects. One comprehensive plan

Everything a K-12 school should teach, delivered under Finnish pedagogy and enhanced by the 3
cross-curricular academies. No skipped steps, no superficial content.

Mathematics

Logic, abstraction and applied problem solving.

Science

Experimental thinking and the scientific method.

Reading comprehension

Deep analysis, not just decoding.

Writing in English

Producing real academic texts.

Digital skills

Tools the professional world uses today.

Communication

Speaking, listening and arguing clearly.

Social-emotional development

The foundation on which the brain performs.

STEAM projects

Science, technology, engineering, art and math, integrated.

Creativity and critical thinking

Question, connect, propose.

Leadership and life skills

Skills that traditional schools ignore.

100% live classes. Never pre-recorded

Monday through Friday, with real teachers who support each student in real time. Interaction is direct: they ask questions, debate and work in teams. It’s not watching a video and filling out a quiz: any platform can do that. This is a school

Safe virtual classrooms

Live spaces with real, supervised interaction.

Everything in one place

Assignments, resources, academic tracking and family-teacher communication.

Real-time reports

Parents can see their children’s progress whenever they want, from anywhere.

The Geniotype study

Every child is born with a unique profile of cognitive, emotional and creative abilities.

The Geniotype study seeks to identify that profile to understand how they learn, how they process information and where their greatest natural potential lies. With that information, parents receive clear guidance to support their child’s development with purpose and direction, instead of blindly.

Your child doesn't graduate once. They graduate twice

When they finish high school, your child earns a dual diploma: a High School Diploma from our campus in the United States and the national certificate valid in their country. Two credentials, one curriculum, twice as many open doors for their future.

American Diploma · High School

Issued by our campus in Florida, United States. The key to applying to universities in the United States, Europe and the rest of the world.

National Certificate

Recognized in Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia. School continuity with no revalidation paperwork and no lost school year.
